Time of year for a Royal Mail scam

This one nearly caught us!

As the second payment of income tax is due on 31st July this scammer is on the ball.

The ‘tell’ in this one is pretty evident. Cursor over the email sender reveals the fraudster neglected to cover his/her tracks leaving their suspect email address exposed:- communications@ucc-asia-pacific.sg.

There is no envelope – or anything else from HMRC. The email’s sole aim is to have you click on the “Reschedule hotlink” – then gain access to your bank account and part you from your hard-earned funds.

Never, ever, respond by clicking on an email hotlink – and don’t even click on the “unsubscribe” link – just junk it.

You may be tempted to contact ‘communications@ucc-asia-pacific.sg’ and give him/her some stick, but that merely confirms the email has reached a potential target – so don’t do it.

If you have vulnerable members of your family, or friends that could be taken in, tell them to be on their guard.
