With a poet’s heart and a rockster’s soul, Luka Bloom is regarded as one of Ireland’s best-respected contemporary folk artists. Having produced 20 albums since the 1970s, Bloom continues to push the boundaries of his music. His 2012/13 Heartman Tour proves he is still making provocative, poetic music that delves deep into the intricacies of the human soul.
Luka will be at Pavilion Arts Centre on Saturday 28 May headlining 3 Days in May, a brand-new mini festival taking place over the bank holiday (Friday 27 to Sunday 29 May). Luka is the younger brother of Christy Moore, who sold out Buxton Opera House in October 2015. He will play 3 Days in May alongside US acoustic blues singer-songwriter Eric Bibb on Friday and Denmark’s toe-tapping 8-piece folk group Habadekuk on Sunday.
During Luka’s gig we can expect to see a few nice guitars on stage. Like many who write songs, Luka’s orchestra of choice is the guitar. What makes his career a little different is his constant search for a new voice through his instrument. Time, effort and a whole lot of love bring forth new voicings, and bit by bit, songs like Byron Bay, San Francisco, Hamburg, or even Doolin are borne.
Luka’s support will be 20-year-old Derby rock-chic HARRIET! The songstress has stirred up lots of attention following performances at Y Not Festival and Osfest.
Tickets for 3 Days in May are priced at £16.50 for Luka Bloom, £16 for Habadekuk and £29.50 for Eric Bibb & Band.
