Macclesfield Civic Society

Macclesfield Civic Society stimulates public interest in the town, encouraging high standards of environmental design, and protecting buildings, places
of historical and architectural interest and the town’s environs, by:

• meetings which give members the opportunity
  to voice their opinions and which feature
  talks/discussions on topical issues;
• monthly committee meetings which consider
  how best to act upon the Society’s decisions;
• regular monitoring of planning applications.

Where public participation is concerned, for example in conservation areas, Cheshire East Council seeks the Society’s views.

Macclesfield Civic Society runs an Awards Scheme each year, now in conjunction with Macclesfield Express, to encourage sensitive and appropriate new building, renovation, and conservation.
