Old School Disco
Local disc jockey, Chris Marshall Booth, is hosting an ‘Old School Disco’ night, raising funds for the breast screening unit at Macclesfield Hospital.
Monies raised from the event will support former patient Gena Moors’ cause, to say thank you to the unit she received treatment from, for breast cancer in 2020.
Married with two children, Gena, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, undergoing a lumpectomy, before receiving chemotherapy at Macclesfield Hospital.
After hosting her own Splash of Pink Breast Cancer Ball last year, where Chris DJ.’d, she’s raised over £24,000.
Gena said: “I was absolutely overwhelmed when Chris contacted me to go through his idea of a fun disco night. It will be an incredible night of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s classics – a ‘dance like no-one’ is watching kind of night!
“Chris is donating funds from the night to the Splash of Pink fund and with this money, I am getting closer to my target of £50,000 – which is amazing. The kindness and generosity of people I have met along the way is truly incredible.”
The event, which is taking place at Congleton Town Hall on Saturday 17th August, will feature music from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s with tickets just £12 each.
Chris said, “Lots of people have asked me to do a disco for over 40’s sort of folks with a bit of fun, why not, sort of wedding without a bride and groom, so I said I’ll try it and Splash of Pink is right up there on the good cause list, so I asked Gena if she would like to receive the profits and she jumped at it, and is very enthusiastic”.
Gena is organising her next event, Splash of Pink does Vegas, on Saturday 21st September 2024 at Shrigley Hall Hotel and Spa.
Guests attending the event will be greeted with a drink’s reception and a three-course dinner with a fun money casino, entertainment, a silent and live auction and a disco all included.
Tickets are now available for £80 per person, with tables of 12 available. Table sponsorship is available for £150, businesses will appear on advertising for the event and in the brochure on the night, along with your business name and contact details on the table.
Gena’s aim is to double her fundraising at this year’s event, so the money raised can go towards a new piece of life saving equipment on the unit, above and beyond what the NHS funds.
