Macclesfield Town have confirmed they are appealing against the red card given to Vinny Mukendi in Saturday`s 1-0 defeat at Burton Albion.
The 19-year-old was sent off just 11 seconds into the second half after coming on as a substitute.
“The kid`s got his eye on the ball all the time and won the header,” Macc boss Gary Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester. “There`s no intent whatsoever.
“Coming off, their players were saying it`s never a sending off.”
The DR Congo Under-20 international striker was adjudged by Wiltshire referee Brendan Malone to have used his elbow in an aerial challenge with Burton defender Ryan Austin.
But Mukendi said on Twitter: “What happened wasn`t a foul. The manager and the players know I never touched him. The ref had a poor game, but that`s football.”
