Macclesfield drew another blank on the road, going down 2-0 at Cheltenham.

Although the first half was evenly balanced, it was the hosts who turned around a goal to the good and despite their best efforts to get back in it, Macc suffered their second straight away defeat.

The hosts went ahead with a penalty 34 minutes in. Under pressure in his own area, Scott Kay couldn`t clear his lines and, after Darryl Duffy nipped in ahead of him, the midfielder`s challenge left referee David Phillips no option but to point to the spot.

Although Jose Veiga guessed right, he was powerless to stop Jeff Goulding`s firmly-struck penalty.

Macc`s best chance to rescue something from the game fell to centre-back Shaun Brisley, who sliced horribly wide after Lewis Chalmers found him with a neatly clipped ball over the defence.

Although Macc huffed and puffed they couldn`t find the breakthrough in the second half and substitute Jimmy Spencer confirmed the win by stroking home number two with a couple of minutes left to play.
