ROGUE TRADERS IN COOKWARE SCAM

Rogue traders have been targeting the local area in a cookware scam.

Salesmen claiming to be from a European country have been knocking on doors saying they have been to a trade show at the Birmingham NEC Arena and want to sell off remaining stock.

They have targeted Knutsford and in the last couple of days a man has been trying to sell pans and other household equipment door to door in the Siddington and Lower Withington areas.

A Cheshire East Council spokesman said: “The goods appear well presented and are labelled `St Moritz`.

“Residents have been told they are Swiss made when, in fact, they are made in China. The caller also allows people to pay by credit card with a card reader and asks for the amount to be paid in Euros.”
