Joe & Gerry return to the spiritual home of The Purple Gang

The Purple Gang – or at least two of them – returned to their spiritual home of The Castle on Saturday night.

The Purple Gang used The Castle as their base of operations way back in the 60’s before they set off on their search for fame and fortune at UFO and The Marquee in London.

Joe Beard and Gerry Robinson, who still play together, performed a mixed set of original Purple Gang material – including the infamous ‘Granny Takes a Trip’ and some of their latest material.

Joe also took the opportunity to sign copies of his biography of the band ‘Taking the Purple’ – in it’s first print edition, but rapidly selling out.

The two songsmiths currently perform as Robinson/Beard and are in the throws of recording a new album.
