Macclesfield MP David Rutley dived in to support Macclesfield Seals Swimming Club when he drew the club’s raffle at June’s Treacle Market.
The Seals were at the Treacle Market to drum up support for the club. Founded in 1957, the club is for anyone with learning disabilities who wants to swim. Members are encouraged to learn to swim or improve their skills. Many gain ability and distance badges. The club is proud to have Dame Sarah Storey as a patron.
The club extends a warm welcome to volunteer helpers, including many local sixth formers and students completing their Duke of Edinburgh awards.
That’s why David was so pleased to learn more about the club and offer his support at the Treacle Market. He was delighted to draw the stall’s raffle, which raised much needed funds for the club.
David said, “The Seals Swimming Club is a great organisation. It is clear that the members love swimming and learn many important skills. I would encourage local residents to contact the club if they want to swim or add their support through volunteering.”
