The Silkmen have been given a huge boost, ahead of today’s trip to Dartford, by bringing back Matthew Barnes-Homer.
Macc Town manager, John Askey had been saying before their midweek win over Barnet that he was struggling to find a striker.
That situation changed on Friday as Macc announced that Barnes-Homer had returned to the club – on loan from Conference South side Whitehawk.
28-year-old Matthew had a tremendous 2012-13 season, scoring 21 goals for the Silkmen, including two against Cardiff City – when the Silkmen reached the FA Cup fourth round for the first time in their history.
Barnes-Homer has had spells at Forest Green, Cambridge and Tamworth since leaving the Moss Rose.
The former Wolves youngster has also played for Luton and Kidderminster.
“We’ve said for a while that we wanted another option up front,” said Askey. “And wanted someone we know has the quality to improve us, and I think that’s what we have here.
“The supporters don’t need me to tell them that Matthew is a player who can score goals, because we all know what he is capable of from his last time with the club. We’re pleased to have him and hopefully he will give us something extra.”
Barnes-Homer is available for the trip to Dartford and victory could put Macc back on the cusp of the play-off places.
