Traffic news – M56 latest

Update on M56 incident which is causing severe traffic congestion in various areas around Cheshire.

M56 Eastbound lanes 2 and 3 are now open and traffic on the M56 EB will start to move but due to the sheer volume of traffic in the area it will take some time for traffic to ease in the area.

Junction 12 and 14 slips roads remain closed to stop traffic joining the motorway and adding to the congestion.

The removal of the trailer that is on fire may take some time due to the nature of the load being tyres and the possibility of reigniting the fire.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes as the areas around Ellesmere Port, Chester, Runcorn and Warrington are very heavily congested.
