Yesterday we urged Macclesfield’s planners to give the Jordangate development their full support – and kickstart a turnaround for that end of town.
Thankfully, Cheshire East’s planning committee approved the mixed retail and office development.
ilovemacc applaud their decision and – with the imminent opening of P R Jones new store, on the corner of Chestergate and Market Place – look forward to a turnaround in the area’s fortunes.
Now, if only Cheshire East would pull the plug on the dreadful Silk Street regeneration scheme – we could look at the regeneration of Mill Street.
We’re told that a significant number of national retailers have expressed interest in Mill Street – until they discover the planned Silk Street scheme.
Wilson Bowden still don’t have any money and I, for one, am doubtful the scheme will see the light of day – meanwhile the scheme continues to put a blight on Mill Street.
