Described by Dolly Parton as one of the ‘sweetest, purest and best lead voices in the music business’, GRAMMY nominated bluegrass singer Claire Lynch is set to entertain in Buxton this summer. Claire is doing a short tour of UK and Buxton Opera House lucky enough to be scooping a date (for a Friday night treat) on 28th August, in between two dates at the Guinness Bluegrass Festival in Ireland.
A pioneer of bluegrass country music, Claire is known for pushing the boundaries of the bluegrass genre. She has a huge array of awards including getting placed in the Top Ten as one of the ‘most angelic voices of our time’ by Digital Journal. She shares the honour with such luminaries as Judy Collins, Alison Krauss, Sarah McLachlan and Dolly Parton herself.
Claire’s career has been decorated with many other accolades including two GRAMMY nominations and three International Bluegrass Music Association Female Vocalist awards in 2010 and 1997. Recently, at the 2014 IBMA Awards, she received two trophies: Song of the Year for Dear Sister, a writing collaboration with Louisa Branscomb and Recorded Event of the Year. The latter was for collaboration with the Special Consensus Bluegrass Band, who made a special appearance at Buxton Opera House earlier this year.
Long recognised and praised as a creative force in acoustic music, Claire’s harmonies have graced the recordings of many stellar musicians. Equally gifted as a songwriter, her songs have been recorded by The Seldom Scene, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea, Cherry Holmes, The Whites and others.
Claire Lynch and her band will appear at Buxton Opera House on Friday 28 August at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at just £15.50. To buy tickets or for more information call the Box Office on 01298 72190 or visit www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk
