Macclesfield Town will be helping to raise funds for the Bosley Appeal when they take on non-league Congleton in a match today.
Macclesfield were scheduled to play Stoke City under-21s, but the game was cancelled due to the club’s involvement in the Colonia Cup in Germany.
The Bears were due to have played Styal in a pre-season friendly, but answered the call from Macclesfield to help raise funds for the Bosley Appeal..
Four people died in the Bosley Wood Treatment incident and so far the Bosley Appeal has raised thousands of pounds to help those affected by the tragedy.
Macclesfield Town chairman Mark Bowler said he was delighted Cheshire neighbours Congleton had agreed to switch their game.
He told the club’s website: “We are delighted they agreed to come to the Moss Rose at such short notice to play us.
“Not only does it give us a final match to prepare for the opening game of the season at Torquay, it also gives us a chance to give something back to the families affected by the events at Bosley.
“I appreciate this is short notice, but I hope the people in the surrounding areas come out in numbers for the game.”
Tickets are priced at £10 adults, £5 for over-65 and £1 for under-18s. Kick-off is at 3pm.
