It’s the news Macclesfield has been desperately awaiting – a major retailer is putting its faith in our town – and our town centre.
Plans for the Eskmuir Group owned Grosvenor Shopping Centre expansion scheme are at an advanced stage with national retailer TK Maxx signing up for the new development.
TK Maxx will be taking 20,000 square feet over two floors within the development, which includes a new frontage onto Castle Street.
T.K. Maxx has made a major niche in retail by offering top-brand family apparel, home fashions, luggage and toys at a cut price.
The company currently has over 400 stores throughout the UK, Germany, Poland and has just opened its first store in Austria.
The Grosvenor Centre development will see all the malls completely refurbished with new flooring, ceilings and lighting.
Castle Street Mall will also be widened to improve levels of natural light.
The development is scheduled to be ready for handover to the retail tenants in Summer 2016.
Throughout the last few uncertain years, many of us consistently maintained that, once the dreadful Wilson Bowden Scheme was laid to rest, existing town centre property owners and developers would invest – and major players would be queueing up to come into Macclesfield and help revitalise our town.
It’s now starting to happen.
