Ian McNabb at the Pavilion Arts Centre

Ian McNabb, (http://www.ianmcnabb.com) lead singer of The Icicle Works will be playing live at Pavilion Arts Centre, Buxton on Saturday 5 September.

McNabb enjoyed fame throughout the 80s, both in the UK and US with hits including Love Is A Wonderful Colour and Whisper To A Scream (Birds Fly).  His musical collaborations have included working with Ringo Starr and Noel Gallagher as well as opening Neil Young’s Echo Arena gig last year in Liverpool.

Since Icicle Works split in 1988, McNabb’s solo career has been well received by critics and fans alike. His writing offers a unique sound with lyrics combining warmth, humour, cynicism and grandeur. His concept album Head Like a Rock was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.

Supporting Ian Mcnabb in Buxton will be Louis Gordon most notable for his collaborations with John Foxx (ex-Ultravox) together with Graham Clark, well known in the area for playing acoustic violin. Graham has had a long and varied career working with such notables as David Allen and Gong, Elbow, Jah Wobble, and 808 State’s Graham Massey.

The duo will be performing original songs written by Gordon, featuring a mixture of electonica and soul.

Pavilion Arts Centre offers live music nearly every week. As well as the monthly jazz and classical recitals, September sees Sam Sweeney, Bellowhead’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Musician of the year gig and many more.

Ian McNabb will take the stage on Saturday 5 September at 7.30pm.
