Known to audiences for his role as DS Joe Hawkins in Law and Order, Doc also has an army of fans for his stand-up career, which came out of his ‘battle rapper’ gigs in the early noughties.

After regularly hosting live events as part of London’s underground scene, Brown caught the attention of big names who wanted him to host their events. After introducing nights for DJ Mark Ronson, he was asked to join the producer’s band, providing vocals alongside Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen. Late in 2007 Doc became a script consultant on Danny Robins’ BBC Radio 4 sitcom Rudy’s Rare Records, starring Lenny Henry. This led to parts on the acclaimed BBC series Rev., Miranda, The Inbetweeners, and ultimately his starring role in Law & Order. Fame and talent runs in the family – Doc brown is the brother of famous novelist Zadie Smith.
