For classical music lovers Buxton’s Pavilion Arts Centre offers lunchtime Coffee Concerts each month, with some of the most talented and up-and-coming musicians in the North West. The next Coffee Concert on Friday 9 October at 1pm features the Abelia Saxophone Quartet.
Appearing with kind permission of the Royal Northern College of Music where the quartet study, the concert will include selected works from classical and contemporary repertoires.
The all-female group: Emma McPhilemy, Hannah Corcoran, Isobel Williams and Catherine Hanson all excel at saxophone (and in some cases other instruments as well). The girls joined forces in 2013 and were an instant hit, enjoying a busy performance schedule which includes various venues around Manchester and gigs at RNCM. The group are also catching national attention and earlier this year the girls appeared on Radio 3’s Young Artists’ Day.
Abelia Saxophone Quartet takes place on Friday 9 October at 1pm. After the performance there will be a meet and greet with the musicians over coffee. Tickets are priced at £7 in advance and £10 on the door.
