Cheshire East Council has once again teamed up with Cheshire radio station Silk 106.9fm to host the Local Hero Awards 2015.
Now in their 18th year, the awards recognise the unsung heroes of Cheshire East.
This year’s ceremony is set to be the biggest ever – with 12 awards being handed out on the night.
The categories are:
- Champion Child
- Social Enterprise of the Year
- Parent/Guardian of the Year
- Carer of the Year
- Local Business of the Year
- Act of Courage
- Teacher of the Year
- Neighbour of the Year
- Volunteer of the Year
- Young Achiever of the Year
- Sporting Achievement Award
- Pride of Cheshire Award
Cheshire East Council is the overall sponsor of the awards and will be presenting the ‘Special Pride of Cheshire Award’ on the night.
The ceremony will be held at Tytherington Club, Macclesfield on Friday October 16 and is by invite only. Nominations for the awards are now closed.
Cheshire East Council Mayor, Councillor Hilda Gaddum who is special guest said: “I am delighted that Cheshire East Council is supporting these awards again.
“It was a privilege to be a part of the judging panel.
“The amount of nominations received was overwhelming.
“I would like to thank everyone who submitted a nomination.
“There are truly hundreds of inspiring and brave people living here in Cheshire East.
“I look forward to meeting some of them at the awards ceremony next week.”
David Flavell, Silk radio station manager said: “The Local Hero Awards are the highlight of the local calendar.
“We are now in our 18th year of the awards and still they continue to be the best way to reward and recognise local people who give their time for others.
“Winners will be announced after the event.
All proceeds raised on the night will go to the Bosley Appeal Fund.
