Advent : 28 & 29 November
Yuletide: Weekends 5-20 December
Visitors to Little Moreton Hall are invited to celebrate Christmas in award-winning style.
The hall’s huge oak tables will be laid with a Tudor feast, jesters will juggle and clown in the courtyard, musicians will play crumhorns, curtals, a hurdy-gurdy, recorders and hand bells. A story-teller will provide Christmas tales and someone will be chosen as the ‘Lord of Misrule’.
Last year the Yuletide celebration at Little Moreton Hall won the award for the best Christmas event at any National Trust property.
Rachel Costigan, from the Hall, said: ‘Visitors tell us they love the atmosphere. They can join in carol singing with local choirs, help the jesters with their juggling, sample some Tudor-style food and drink, or just soak up the sights and sounds of a real Tudor festival. Children will be able to decorate poesy plates and make willow star wands.’
Little Moreton Hall’s Yuletide Festival is each weekend from Saturday 5 December to Sunday 20 December.

On the ‘Advent’ weekend, Saturday and Sunday 28 and 29 November, visitors will be able to play a part in the preparations for the festival by helping the Hall’s Tudor gentlemen and gentlewomen set up willow and holly wreaths and decorate the Long Gallery with willow baubles. They can also join in carols with the Little Moreton Singers.
Rachel said: ‘Many of our visitors, including the young ones, really enjoy this Advent weekend and the feeling of being actively involved in the Hall’s festivities. The ideal option is to take part in these preparations and then come again to see Yuletide in full swing.
The temperature may be low but we can guarantee everyone a really warm welcome.’
During November and December Little Moreton Hall is open at weekends, 11am – 4pm. For more information visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/littlemoretonhall or call 01260 272018.
