The Bollington Brewing Co. has added three significant wins to its trophy cabinet, claiming North East Cheshire Business Award’s Team of the Year; Silver in the Society of Independent Brewers’ Awards, and Bronze in the Champion Beer of Cheshire Awards.
The company, headed up by Lee Wainwright, has seen organic growth over the last seven years, from the conception of its brewery to the addition of three pubs to the family business portfolio; The Vale Inn (Bollington), The Park Tavern (Macclesfield) and The Cask Tavern (Poynton).
Created around the philosophy of providing high quality, locally-brewed ale, the company’s reputation for excellence was recognised at the high profile NECB Awards at The Mere, Knutsford, where they took home the coveted accolade of Team of the Year, competing against the crème de la crème of businesses in the area.
Locally brewed ale, Endurance, has also proved its ability to ‘go the distance’ when pitted against other pale ales, claiming Silver in the SIBA regional awards.
Created by The Bollington Brewery in collaboration with Glyn Fisher, Endurance is a distinctive beer that earned its name on the back of a phenomenal 300 mile coast-to-coast charity bike ride completed by Suffolk-based Glyn, who took to the saddle to raise more than £1600 for Macmillan and All Hallows Hospice, following the loss of his father-in-law to cancer, and stopped in Macclesfield during his epic journey to brew the ale with the team at Bollington Brewery.
Hoppy brew, Oat Mill Stout, took Bronze in the Champion Beer of Cheshire Awards, adding to the company’s plethora of titles, as further testament to the team’s commitment to quality.
Commenting on the awards, Lee Wainwright, owner of The Bollington Brewing Co., said: “We’re all on a bit of a high as a result of this incredible series of wins. We’ve worked so hard as a team to combine the development of supreme quality ales with exceptional customer service and have created relaxed, friendly pub environments.
“Built on strong family values, our passion for what we do is at the core of the business, so it’s great to see that this has translated well to our customers and the organisations that set the standard in our industry.”
