Three Macclesfield Town football fans were handed football banning orders when they appeared at Macclesfield Magistrates Court on Thursday 17th December 2015.
On appearing in court Laurence Carr and Michael Silverwood both pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behavior at the game. Meanwhile Nathan Hulme pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.
The charges related to incidents that occurred at the Vanarama National League fixture against Chester FC at the Moss Rose Stadium in August 2015
Carr was fined £90, Hulme £40 and Silverwood £110. All three were told that they would also have to pay Court Costs of £150, a Victim surcharge of £20 and CPS charges of £85
All three males contested football banning orders that were being applied for by Cheshire Police. However, having heard evidence from one of Cheshire Police’s Dedicated Football Officers, PC Shayne Smith, Magistrates were happy that the orders were necessary to prevent violence or disorder at or in connection with future football matches.
All three men were handed three year banning orders which prevent their attendance at any regulated football match in the United Kingdom. They will also have to hand in their passports to Police when the England National team play abroad.
Sergeant Carl Capewell said; “Cheshire Police will not tolerate behavior at football matches that puts other fans at risk. These convictions are clear warning that anyone looking to cause trouble at or in connection with games will be arrested and prosecuted- and if convicted football banning orders will be rigorously applied for.”
