Barlow’s of Henbury Ltd, the family-run agricultural equipment supplier, has moved into new premises at Yew Tree House in Marton.
The Cheshire firm relocated to the 8.5-acre site from its former base in Henbury, where it operated for 60 years.
Funding support worth £800k was provided by Yorkshire Bank, under its SME lending initiatives – developed to support customer growth. These include funding to allow businesses to buy their trading premises which, depending on the strength of cashflows and individual circumstances, can be up to 100% of the premises value.
With Barlow’s predicting a rise in footfall due to the new site’s increased transport links, the company now plans to double its turnover from £4m to £8m over the next four years and create three new jobs in 2016.
The firm’s owner, James Barlow said: “Our secret of success is down to really hard work. We’re a small business that operates effectively together as a team and we’re all committed to growing the company. I believe this attitude combined with the increased traffic we will experience at our new site will enable us to reach our goal of doubling our turnover by 2020.”
Founded in 1890 by James Barlow’s great-great grandfather, Joseph Aaron Barlow, the firm today employs a team of 14 and supplies agricultural equipment such as tractors to farming businesses.
Following the move, Barlow’s will expand its range to include country and hunting supplies.
