Macclesfield gets Streetwise

A local community organisation, Cheshire Streetwise, is starting a furniture reuse project enabling Macclesfield residents to donate their used and surplus items to benefit local families. The project means Macclesfield residents facing financial challenges can access furniture items at low cost, or for referred families in need at no cost. At the same time, the shop will provide volunteer and training opportunities for local residents who are having difficulties finding employment.

A team of volunteers, led by Maggie Falconer-Drew from Cheshire Streetwise has started collecting items on Mondays and opening their new store at 10 Gilchrist Avenue, Macclesfield, SK11 8GU, on Fridays between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m.

Cheshire Streetwise currently runs drop in centres in Macclesfield for socially isolated and excluded residents. It provides for basic practical needs of food and drink as well as offering support and counselling, and providing advice and guidance. It is envisaged that the furniture project will offer another practical way to support individuals and families.
