Led by jazz violin superstar Christian Garrick, the Budapest Café Orchestra will bring the traditional folk and gypsy flavoured music from across the Balkans and Russia to Buxton Opera House on Wednesday 25 May.
Evoking vivid images of tzigane fiddle maestros, Budapest café life and gypsy campfires, the hugely entertaining orchestra demonstrates immense skill and profound musicianship in a show that’ll make you want to book that holiday down the Danube!
The BCO have won legions of fans through their infectious and captivating performances. A small but impeccably formed orchestra of just four players, they combine violin, guitar, accordion, double bass, saz and balalaika, creating an awesome aural alchemy normally characteristic of far larger ensembles
Other music events coming up include 3 Days in May, a mini festival over the bank holiday weekend (27 to 29 May) with leading blues singer/songwriter Eric Bibb, famous Irish folk artist Luka Bloom and Habadekuk, Denmark’s leading folk band.
Gravity Percussion Duo will take the helm for 1 June’s Coffee Concert in the Arts Centre, proving that with a lot of energy and talent you can make a huge percussive sound, with just four hands.
