Be amazed by Deer and Science at Tatton

Go along to Tatton Park this half term and bank holiday weekend and delve into the fascinating scientific legacy of the park as the Tatton team celebrate science, technology and engineering, part of Cheshire’s ‘Amazed By Science’ Festival 2016.

Visitors are being invited to be inspired by Tatton’s rich heritage of past achievements and endeavours and explore how science still plays a significant part in the day to day running of the Tatton Park estate today, helping to maintain and conserve both its built and natural features for today’s visitors and generations to come.

There are stacks of amazing activities going on across the park so regardless of what day you visit Tatton Park, you can be ‘Amazed by Science.’

Here is just a sample of the activities this packed week of amazing experiences offers:-.

At the Farm: 

Sat 28th May – Sheep Shearing

Sun 29th May – Sheep Shearing

Mon 30th May – Meet the Chicks and Ducklings

Tues 31st May – ‘Baa-ology’’- meet Tatton’s sheep

Wed 1st June – Steam Engine Demonstrations

Thurs 2nd June – Meet the Miller

Fri 3rd June – Meet the Heavy Horses

Sat 4th June – Pigs: Farrowing or Fiction

Sun 5th June – Calving

These activities will be advertised on the day and will be included in your admission fee to the Farm.

In the Parkland:

Fri 3rd June – Family Birdwatch*

A Ranger led nature walk spotting birds and then visiting the Allen Hide to learn about birdwatching and to make a bird feeder from recycled materials.

In the Gardens:

Sat 28th May – Birds in the Garden*

A nature walk into the gardens spotting and identifying birds. You will also learn more about types, habitats and feeding.

Wed 1st June – Bugs in the Garden*

A bug hunt in the Orchard where you will have the chance to find and classify the mini-beasts lurking in the undergrowth!

Amazed by Science

Amazed by Science is a Cheshire-wide festival focusing on science, technology, engineering and maths, in one of the most science rich areas of the UK. Now in its third year the festival will take place from 28th May-5th June. During May half-term there will be lots of fun, interactive science events and activities for children, at attractions and venues across Cheshire from meeting the experts to alien science shows and hunting for skeletons.

The festival has attracted sponsorship from several big names from the science community including Sellafield Ltd, Siemens, Urenco, National Nuclear Laboratory, Waters Corporation and the British Science Association. www.amazedbyscience.co.uk
