Brewing Culture

Brewing Culture – an event that will combine conversations about the ingredients of a good town with a tour of brewing in Macc – with four lovely venues each with a four talk on brewing – heritage, future and technical and tasting!)

Starting off at King Edward St Chapel, then on to Brewtique, The Bate Hall (oldest pub in Macc) and Red Willow.

Conversations will be recorded through photography, social media, cartoons, love letters and scribbles on beer mats – resulting in a ‘Manifesto for Macc’ made in a day…

Speakers (if still able) will include:

Virginia Tandy OBE – As Director of Manchester City Galleries, she oversaw a major expansion and refurbishment of Manchester Art Gallery, which opened to critical acclaim in 2002. As Director of Culture for the city from 2008, she led the creation of Manchester’s Cultural Strategy and chaired the city’s Cultural Partnership.

Claire Tymon – Claire initiated and managed the Blackburn is Open programme with Wayne Hemingway. Blackburn is Open is about working with creative individuals and businesses and bringing their hard work and skill into the town centre through events, activities, workshops, exhibitions, businesses, pop up shops, festivals.

Beer Talks:

Paul Wregglesworth- Macclesfield CAMRA – Heritage of brewing in Macclesfield through a wonderful selection of historic images at The Bate Hall.
