One of Britain’s finest comedians, Ken Dodd returns for another ‘tattyfilarious’ evening of laughter and song at Buxton Opera House on Saturday 4th June.

The comedy legend has been on the road with his Happiness Show for longer than most of us can remember and he never fails to make each visit to Buxton both unique and special. His fun-filled variety show is suitable for all and is packed full with non-stop gags, entertaining songs and plenty of happiness all round!

The 88 year-old shows no signs of slowing down, with his performances still regularly continuing past midnight. Ken Dodd got his big break at the age of twenty-six in 1954 when he made his professional show-business debut at the now-demolished Nottingham Empire. Although Ken Dodd is known in the business for his astonishing ‘mind palace’ of jokes – he wasn’t always so confident with his memory. Before his first show he was so nervous he sat in a local bar for most of the afternoon, going over and over his lines. As a gifted live performer with perfect comic timing, it wasn’t long before he had risen to the top of the bill and by the 1960s his fame in the UK was such that he rivalled The Beatles as a household name. His recording of Tears was the UK’s third best-selling single of the 60s. In 1982 Dodd was awarded the OBE by Queen Elizabeth II for services to show business and charity.
