Fresh appeal to find Robert’s killer

Police have issued a fresh appeal for the public’s help in identifying the man responsible for the death of a Macclesfield man at Manchester’s Parklife festival, as the two year anniversary of his death approaches.

26-year-old Robert Hart was assaulted at around 9.15pm near the main stage on Saturday 7 June – he died as a result of his injuries several days later.

Robert’s attacker is described as a mixed race man, aged in his late 20s and around 6ft 1in tall.

He is of a muscular build with short, dark hair which was shaved at the sides.

Police released an appeal in June 2014 based on witness accounts appealing for a woman who dragged the attacker away from the area in the immediate aftermath to come forward.

She is described as white with blonde, shoulder-length hair and is around 5ft 7in tall.

She is approximately 20 to 23-years-old and was wearing a pink top with a dark jacket over the top.

Police are also keen to speak to a man who is believed to have been with the attacker.

He is described as white and around 6ft 1in. He was wearing a dark jacket.

In December 2014, police issued a photograph of the area where the assault took place which they believe shows the moment minutes before Robert was attacked.

The photograph was a result of people sending pictures and video footage to GMP.

Detective Superintendent Phil Reade of GMP’s Serious Crime Division, said: “We are one shot away from identifying Robert’s attacker and we can only do this with the public’s help.

“I’m urging you to think back to June 2014. Were you there? Do you still have photographs or video footage from the festival?

“Don’t assume that someone else has sent the same or similar photograph or footage to what you have taken.

“The people we are looking for could be in the background of a photograph or video you have taken.

“You could be holding a vital piece of evidence to our investigation.”

A £23,000 reward, offered by Parklife organisers and Crimestoppers, is still available to anyone who provides information which leads to the conviction of Robert’s attacker.
