Macclesfield short film festival launched

Attention you up and coming film makes, writers, directors and actors – do you think you could create a short film to enter into Macclesfield’s first Independent Film Festival?

SilkFest Independent Film Festival aims to gives local actors, writers and directors the opportunity to showcase their talent. It is running a competition to find the 12 best short films which will all be screened at a special event at Macclesfield town hall on Saturday August 13 2016.

SilkFest is the idea of film-lover Laura Genders, 34, who lives in the town centre.

She said: “I always thought that there is so much talent in Macclesfield and in the North West which is under the radar, and a film festival would be a great way of celebrating that.”

From 1st March 2016 submissions will be accepted for the inaugural SilkFest film festival.

Submissions will be accepted until 1st July 2016 at which point all entries will be viewed by an independent panel and narrowed down to twelve finalists.

On Saturday 13th August 2016 at Macclesfield Town Hall, the 12 finalist films will be screened at a Gala Evening in front of 200 guests and a judging panel made up of industry professionals.

If you wish to take part in SilkFest 2016 all you have to do is create an original short film, inspired by the theme: HOME
