Safer Communities Fund Launched

Up to £5,000 is up for grabs for Cheshire communities who want to make a real difference in their town, city or village.

Cheshire Police & Crime Commissioner David Keane has launched the fund to support community safety and crime prevention projects in Cheshire and will be awarding up to £5,000 to valuable and innovative initiatives through his Safer Communities Fund.

David Keane said:  “Local people understand their community better than anyone and have some well thought out ideas on what could be done to improve their area. I want to empower people to make a positive impact whether they are involved in local organisations, charities, community and volunteering groups.

“I want to see projects that support victims and vulnerable people or prevent crime and anti-social behaviour. I want bidders to be able to show how they can work to make their project sustainable but I am not setting a minimum funding level and match funding whilst preferable won’t always be necessary, so no project is too small – if it helps making your local community safer I’m keen to get behind it.

“This is a really exciting opportunity and one that I am looking to build over the years to come; so please get involved.”

There is a simple online application process and more information on the Safer Communities Fund on the Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s website. Go to www.cheshire-pcc.gov.uk/what-im-doing/safer-communities-fund/
