Police investigate local fox hunt

Police are investigating after reports a fox was killed during a hunt.

Cheshire Police launched the investigation following claims by hunt saboteurs about a fox hunt in Gawsworth.

The saboteurs allege a fox was chased into a back garden in Penningtons Lane where it was killed.

The investigation comes just under three weeks after claims that a fox had been killed during a hunt near Beeston.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said they were working with the RSPCA and specialist officers to investigate the claims.

“We are aware of concerns around hunt activity in the Macclesfield area yesterday.

“We are investigating this matter and working with specialist officers and the RSPCA.

“If you were a witness or have any information about this matter you are asked to call us on 101 and quote incident number 395 of February 25 2017.”
