Children can enjoy some quality entertainment at Buxton Opera House & Pavilion Arts Centre in the coming months.
Don’t Dribble on the Dragon, arriving in Buxton shortly (29 May Arts Centre) is a small scale stage adaptation of the enchanting new book by Steven Lee, with magic designed by TV legend, the late Paul Daniels. The musical adventure is about growing up and the importance of family, told through the eyes of Tom, a little boy with an unfortunate dribbling problem. Can their secret dragon – and some crazy magic – make him and his brother get along and stop his dribbling? Find out at the show where author Steven Lee will be on hand to sign copies of his book.
Local young performers will take to the stage in an energetic performance of Annie Jr (Fri 23 & Sat 24 June, Arts Centre). The show features a cast of 60 local children and the award-winning choir, Perfect Pitch to tell the famous tale of ‘Orphan Annie’ and her search for her real parents.
Other events include Dinosaur World (Tues 1 & Wed 2 Aug Opera House) where audiences are invited to grab their compass and join intrepid explorers to cross unchartered territory. A host of impressive creatures will be on stage including every child’s favourite flesh eating dino – Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Looking further ahead children can experience what it’s like to attend a Comedy Club as part of Buxton’s Comedy Festival. Comedy Club 4 Kids offers clean comedy sketches and stand-up, sure to make the kids howl with laughter (Sat 2 Sept, 1pm).
