Help is on hand for Peak District businesses to better understand the needs of their cyclist customers.
Pedal Peak for Business, supported by the Peak District National Park Authority and Derbyshire Dales District Council, is offering two free cycle maintenance workshops this autumn.
Open to SME visitor economy businesses in the Derbyshire Peak District, the courses will be held on Tuesday 12 September (4pm to 7pm) and Thursday 12 October (10am to 1pm).
Ashbourne Cycle Hire
The workshops will be led by the Peak District National Park’s qualified mechanics at Parsley Hay cycle hire centre on the High Peak Trail, south of Buxton.
Maintenance topics will include basic bike safety checks, how to mend a puncture, how to adjust brakes, tweaking gears, mending a chain and how to use essential tools.
Pedal Peak for Business officer, Carol Parsons, said: “Aimed at complete beginners, the three-hour course will make you stand out as truly cyclist friendly. In addition to a couple of hours’ instruction in bike maintenance there’ll also be time for networking and a break for refreshments.
“Whatever your experience of cycling we hope that there will be something for you in this workshop. Places are limited to 10 per workshop so please book now!”
The Pedal Peak for Business project aims to help SMEs to be more competitive and to gain a greater understanding of the cycle tourism market. The initiative is part of the £1.49million Growing the Visitor Economy in Derbyshire programme, which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Grants are also available as part of the Pedal Peak for Business project to enable businesses to provide good facilities for their cyclist customers and stimulate the cycling economy.
