Macclesfield College Awards

Macclesfield College held its first ever Apprenticeship Awards recently, celebrating the hard work and achievement of apprentices studying with the college’s dedicated Maxim Business Training unit.
The awards were held at Mottram Hall on Thursday 1st February, where more than 70 guests joined teaching staff and members of the senior leadership team from the college to celebrate 12 winners in a diverse range of categories, from accounting to warehousing.
Winners included: Hairdressing Apprentice of the Year, Freya Enright from Congleton; Accounting Apprentice of the Year, Rosie Felon from Macclesfield; and Business Apprentice of the Year, Daniel Beard from High Peak.

Apprentice of the Year Lauren Jayne White-Potter

Lauren Jayne White-Potter, a first-year hairdressing apprentice training with Macclesfield College and VaVaVoom hair and beauty salon in Wilmslow was named Apprentice of the Year.
She impressed the judges with her passion for learning a wide variety of skills, from hands-on hairstyling to business sales and management.
Receiving the award from Tracy Cosgrave, director of employer and commercial services at Macclesfield College, she was commended for her commitment to supporting three senior stylists as well as working with her own clients.
Tracy said: “These awards gave us the perfect opportunity to congratulate our apprentices and employer partners on their achievements and commitment.
“It is clear that these apprentices are all making valuable contributions to their employers’ businesses and working hard to establish promising careers in their chosen field.”
The ceremony included two employer awards with lighting specialist LED Technologies Ltd, winning SME Employer of the Year, and Adlington-based food packaging machine supplier Proseal receiving the Large Employer of the Year Award.
Andy Gray from Proseal commented: “We have hired 28 engineering apprentices over the past four years and are reaping the benefits.
“Over the past two years we have worked with Macclesfield College and have received great support, working together to resolve any challenges along the way.”
With Apprenticeship Week taking place from Monday 5th – Friday 9th March, the college will also be holding an Apprenticeship Careers Event on Thursday 8th March (2pm – 7pm).
