This Sunday, Macclesfield will be celebrating St George’s Day.
Organised by Macclesfield Town Council, people in Macclesfield won’t need to go far to find some exciting St George’s Day celebrations. Market Place will be the centre of the patriotic family fun.
There will be a special appearance by St George and the dragon, a birds of prey display, face painting, balloon modelling, Morris Dancing, Cricket games, table football, juggling tips, an England Quiz and a fantastic opportunity for children to take part in a Knight’s training session. All activities are free to take part in and hot food and drinks are available to purchase.
Activities will take place from 11am until 2:30pm when there will be a St George’s Day civic and community parade setting off from Duke Street and heading to St Michaels Church where representatives of the Scouting group will renew their promise. The Church Service begins at 3pm and everyone is welcome.
People who come along to the event are encouraged to enter into the patriotic spirit of the occasion by wearing red and white. If children would like to take part in the Knight’s training school, all they need to do is bring along a toy sword with them and be in the churchyard for 1pm. Dig out the chainmail and bring your children along so they can learn the dragon slaying skills of St George.
