The Bollington Brewing Co. has already seen 240 runners* sign up online to its 10th anniversary 3 Peaks Fell Race, which returns this year on Saturday 5th May.
Organised by Andy Skelhorn, the race is the only one of its kind to start and finish at a brewery and sees seasoned fell racers compete alongside relative novices.
The 9km race attracted more than 300 runners in 2017 and challenged participants to scale difficult terrain over Kerridge Hill, White Nancy and Nab Head, before dropping back down to the village to be greeted by the crowd on the finish line.
The event has become a staple in the local events calendar, attracting runners and spectators from far and wide. As a post-race reward, participants are invited to tuck into helpings of tasty chilli, courtesy of the team at The Vale Inn – one of the three pubs in The Bollington Brewing Co’s Cheshire-based estate.
To mark the family-run company’s decade in brewing, ten runners will be chosen at random on the day to win vouchers for a brewery tour where they can learn about the secrets behind the award winning brews.
Each runner taking part in the race will receive a complimentary can of specially brewed 3 Peaks ale courtesy of the brewery. 3 Peaks beer is available on cask in The Park Tavern, The Vale Inn and the Cask Tavern and the speciality ale is available in cans from Tuesday 1st May.
Commenting on the event, Andy Skelhorn said: “It’s great to see that the race continues to grow in awareness. This year we have moved registration exclusively online prior to the race (via bollingtonbrewing.co.uk) to make it a smoother operation from a logistics point of view, so runners will need to act promptly as the race will be capped at 300.”
Lee Wainwright, owner of The Bollington Brewing Co. added: “We’re really excited to host the 10th anniversary race and look forward to welcoming runners and spectators to the brewery. Any profits from the race go back into the local community and will be split between Buxton Mountain Rescue team and The Bollington Festival.”
*Numbers correct at the time of drafting the article. There will be no registration available on the day as all applications are to be made online ahead of the event.
