Macclesfield Town Council has organised an open-top bus to carry the conquering Macclesfield Town Football Club team from the Moss Rose, through the town, to the Town Hall to celebrate the team’s promotion to the football league as champions of National League.
On Sunday 6th May, the open top bus will travel from the club’s ground on London Road, through the town to the Town Hall, where it will stop on Market Place, where the team can celebrate their achievement with the fans. The club will then be welcomed by Cllr Beverley Dooley, the Mayor of Macclesfield, at a Civic Reception at the Town Hall.
Cllr Gareth Jones, who volunteers at the club and raised the suggestion of marking the team’s achievement with the council, commented, “we are all so proud of the whole club. The team has performed so well all season and support staff and volunteers have been right behind them working hard. I’m a proud supporter of the club and have volunteered at the Moss Rose for years. We are all really looking forward to next season, back in the football league. Well done Macc Town!” Gareth is also working with the town council staff to organise the event and get everything in place ready for the celebration.
The open top bus will leave the Moss Rose at around 5pm on Sunday 6th May and will be at Market Place from around 5.20pm.
