Plans to demolish Hollins Park Nursing Home and replace it with a larger facility look set to be approved.
Care UK Community Partnerships is behind an application to demolish the 40-bed home, on Victoria Road, and construct a 70-bed home in its place. Parking, landscaping and amenity space would also be provided.
A statement to Cheshire East Council’s planning committee states that “26 full-time jobs would be created, while further economic benefits would be realised through the construction process and the region’s increased spending power through the greater number of residents, visitors and employees.”
“Notwithstanding other care homes approved within Cheshire East, there remains a strong local need,” it added. “This is emphasised through the increasing life expectancy, greater knowledge of disabilities such as dementia, issues and diagnoses and Cheshire East’s increasing population.
“Independent data submitted with the application identifies the pressures placed on hospitals (beds) as a result of there being inadequate space in care homes.”
Planning officers have recommended approval with the committee set to meet on 7 May.
