Lucie’s in training for the Manchester 10K run

Lucie Bevan, a long-term tenant of the Macclesfield-based charity the Rossendale Trust, is taking part in this year’s Manchester 10k Run.

Cheered on by Rossendale Trust staff members, and Lucie’s mother, Ros, Macclesfield MP, David Rutley, and Lucie took to the tracks to practice ahead of the big day on Sunday 20th May, when Lucie will join hundreds of other runners taking part in this well-established race.

A tenant of the Rossendale Trust for the last several years, Lucie has complex health challenges including cerebral palsy and severe learning disabilities, neither of which has stopped her from taking part in the race. Two of the Trust’s staff members, Jodie and Jenny, have been inspired to support her on the run and assist with these fundraising endeavours.

The Trust is aiming to raise £3,000, all of which would be invested in the vital work that the Rossendale Trust does to support local disabled adults to live more fulfilled and independent lives. Speaking after his visit, David said, “It was great to meet Lucie and have the opportunity to join in with her training. The commitment and enthusiasm of her care team are truly inspiring, and I know that all at the Trust are incredibly proud of what they are achieving. I wish Lucie every success for the Manchester 10k, and hope that as many local residents in and Macclesfield will support these positive endeavours.”
