Cheshire Constabulary is appealing for witnesses to come forward following an attempted knifepoint robbery in Knutsford.
At around 11.55pm on Wednesday 11 July a 17-year-old girl had her mobile phone snatched off her by a teenage boy as she walked along an unlit area of Sparrow Lane alone. She grabbed the phone back from the boy, who was with a group of six other youths.
The teenager then pulled out a knife but the victim kept hold of the phone and managed to flee the area. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or thinks they saw the group of boys in the area or may know who they are to get in touch.
Sergeant Iain Paterson said: “This was a terrifying incident and the victim has understandably been left extremely shaken up.
“We are determined to find out who the group of boys are and ensure that justice prevails.
“Enquiries are ongoing and I appeal to anyone who witnessed anything that may help with our investigation to come forward.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who thinks they may know who the boys are, particularly the one who tried to steal the phone and then pulled out a knife.
“If you have any information that may help us, no matter how small, call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 121152, give us the details via https://cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
“I would also like to assure members of the community that this appears to be an isolated incident and we are doing everything we can to identify the boys and keep residents safe.”
