EasyJet has announced its largest ever expansion at Manchester Airport with the addition of five new aircraft which will create 175 jobs.
The additional planes will allow EasyJet to add five new routes – nnsbruck, Lanzarote, Faro, Barcelona and Bordeaux – and will carry an extra 1.5m passengers a year.
Flight tickets have already gone on sale for the new routes which will commence in November.
EasyJet flew over 3.5 million passengers out of Manchester last year – over 10 million since the airline started operations in the North West in 2008.
Ali Gayward, UK country manager, easyJet, said: “This announcement to expand our operations in Manchester is fantastic news for the North West and will create thousands of new jobs supporting the local economy and both inbound tourism as well as even more choice for consumers in the North West.”
