There’s a new way for local residents to support the vital and much-valued work of East Cheshire Hospice, with the launch of a special Leek United Building Society (LUBS) Affinity Savings Account.
Local MP and East Cheshire Hospice Vice-President, David Rutley, joined staff from the Hospice and LUBS’s Macclesfield branch for the recent launch of the service, and highlighted the positive and important role East Cheshire Hospice plays in and around local communities. Under the scheme, for every pound a saver invests in the new account, LUBS will pay an annual commission to East Cheshire Hospice, giving something back to the community.
Both the Macclesfield and Congleton branches of LUBS will be actively involved in promoting the Affinity Saver Account, with literature encouraging participation in the scheme displayed in both branches. The first ten people to open an account will also receive a specially-commissioned ceramic sunflower, produced by local potter Caroline Tattersall, to mark the Hospice’s 30th anniversary this year.
LUBS already supports the vital work of East Cheshire Hospice with its ‘Feelgood Mortgage’ initiative, under which applicants can choose one of four local hospices to receive a cash donation on completion of their mortgage. Staff have also nominated East Cheshire Hospice to be their charity of the year for 2018.
Speaking after the event, David said, “It is great to see the close and active links between East Cheshire Hospice and Leek United Building Society further strengthened with the launch of the Affinity Saver Account. I am pleased to have been at the launch of this exciting new initiative, which will make a real difference to the vital work East Cheshire Hospice does for patients and their families in our local communities.”
