Cheshire’s police and crime commissioner will be in Macclesfield on Tuesday, 22 January 2019, to plead the case for increasing the police precept – which will be added to your council tax bill.
Commissioner, David Keane is asking local taxpayers to support an increase to the policing precept in local council tax payments by £24 a year (for band D households)
Mr Keane states the money will be used “to help Cheshire Police reinvest in neighbourhood policing and tackle serious and complex crime.”
Ilovemacc suggest that Mr Keane reads several articles posted on this website which all indicate that criminal activity is being allowed to flourish by several Cheshire Police officers and a Standards Department evidently not fit for purpose. Perhaps concentrating on appointing capable and honest police officers rather than swelling the coffers would be more beneficial.
Lousy policing is not due to finances – it’s due to lousy police.
Then again, if Mr Keane is so desperate for our safety he might consider closing down his pointless and expensive department which costs Cheshire taxpayers over £1.5 million each year.
Residents and businesses across Cheshire are being asked to complete a survey to give their views on 2019/20’s precept ahead of the commissioner setting the constabulary’s budget in February.
The commissioner will be in Sainsbury’s on Cumberland Street between 11am-2pm on Tuesday 22 January encouraging people to fill in the survey and talking to them directly about their priorities for police funding.
Alternatively, you can also give your views by completing a survey on the Cheshire PCC websitehttps://www.cheshire-pcc.gov.uk/what-im-doing/get-involved/public-consultations/open-consultations/budget-consultation/
The consultation closes at midnight on Sunday 27 January 2019.
Have your say and make your feelings known – of course we will!
