Throughout his year as Mayor of Macclesfield, Cllr Adam Schofield hosted four charity events to support his two chosen charities; two quiz nights, a Sunday lunch and a Charity Ball. Coupled with donations, over £4550 was raised.
The Mayor presented cheques to Cheshire Streetwise and the Macclesfield Branch of the Royal British Legion at the Town Hall on 16th April.
The Mayor of Macclesfield, Cllr Adam Schofield said ‘I would like to extend my gratitude to all of those who have supported and contributed to the success of my fundraising events this year. Both of my chosen charities greatly benefit our community and I would like to thank them, and their volunteers, who dedicate so much of their time and energy to helping others.’
Maggie Falconer, founder of Cheshire Streetwise CIC commented that ‘Having the support and respect from the Mayor of Macclesfield has really raised the profile of the work we do and the services we provide. We’d like to thank him and the Mayoress for their kindness, commitment and passion for the people in our community of Macclesfield. The Mayor has also honoured our volunteers, making them feel truly valued for giving their valuable time to the community. ‘
Allan Williams, Chairman for the Macclesfield Branch of the Royal British Legion, said ‘We are proud to have been chosen as one of the Mayor’s charities for the past year. We are grateful to the Mayor for the time he has given and all his efforts to raise funds. We appreciate all the hard work carried out by him. The money the branch has received will be put to good use to further the work we carry out for all ex-service personnel and their families in the local area.’
