Paul Collins (aged 37), of Beech Lane, Macclesfield, appeared at Exeter court this week charged with stealing various items of cosmetics, DVDs and childrens clothing, to the value of £185.80 from a Tesco Extra store in the town.
Collins pleaded guilty to being in “Exeter not being at your place of abode, had with you an article for use in the course of, or in connection with, theft, namely a foil lined bag.”
Magistrates deemed the offences serious as the theft was planned and the defendant targeted high value goods. Additionally the defendant had offended whilst on licence and has an appalling record for similar offences.
Collins was committed to prison for eight weeks concurrent and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £115.
