A host of local charities and groups have benefitted from the recent round of community grants given out by Macclesfield Town Council.
The Finance Committee of Macclesfield Town Council approved a grant of £1,000 towards the East Cheshire Hospice Art Fair.
Georgie Johnson, Co-Chair of Art Fair Cheshire said, “We are very grateful to have the support of Macclesfield Town Council for our latest Art Fair. After a break of three years, we can’t wait to be back in the Town Hall, showcasing art from over 80 artists to Macclesfield residents and visitors. This year sees 20 years since the Art Fair first took place and since then it has grown to be the largest volunteer-run art event in the country. Sponsors and supporters such as Macclesfield Town Council mean that every penny we raise can contribute to the running of East Cheshire Hospice. Art Fair Cheshire will be open from 26th September – 3rd October and entry is free.”
Circus Starr also received a grant to deliver a circus in the town for those families who may not usually be able to visit such an event due to additional needs, low income or facing challenges such as domestic violence and bereavement.
Judith Halle, Grants and Trusts Manager for Circus Starr said ‘On behalf of the children and everyone here at Circus Starr, I just want to say a huge thank you to Macclesfield Town Council for giving support to Circus Starr and our wonderful audiences. At a time when businesses and foundations are facing uncertainty and so many other requests for donations, the Town Council thought of others for whom FUN is all too often in short supply and extended their hand of support to them.’
Helena Gowler, Community Engagement and Events Officer for Macclesfield Town Council commented that ‘Macclesfield Town Council is delighted to be supporting local charities and groups based in the town through the grant scheme. It is great to see all of the fantastic ideas that grow out of the grants. The Art Fair and Circus are just two examples of great projects supported by Macclesfield Town Council.’
