Police have charged two local men with murder following the death of Macclesfield man Archie (Peter) Robson.
Mr Robson, aged 59 – was taken to Macclesfield Hospital on Friday 8 November after being found with serious injuries at an address in Glegg Street. He died, in hospital, on Saturday 9 November.
Daniel Whitmore, aged 25, of Mayfield Avenue, Macclesfield, and Daniel Mayers, aged 38, of Glegg Street, Macclesfield, are due to appear before Crewe Magistrates’ Court on Monday 11 November.
Mayers was arrested on the evening of Friday 8 November and Whitmore was arrested on Saturday 9 November. Both have subsequently been charged and remanded into custody.
Officers remain in the local area to provide reassurance and anyone with any concerns is urged to speak to them.
The family of Mr Robson have since paid tribute to him. They said: “Peter was fondly known as Archie to all who knew and loved him. He was a lovely, intelligent guy, friendly to everyone and a character people just loved. We will miss him deeply.”
Mr Robson had lived in the Knutsford area for a number of years before moving to Macclesfield.
