Former Wolves winger and under-23s caretaker boss Mark Kennedy has been named the new Macclesfield head coach.
Kennedy has taken charge of the League Two side on an initial deal until the end of the season.
He will be assisted by former Crystal Palace and Southampton defender Danny Butterfield and Silkmen fans’ favourite Danny Whitaker.
As a player, Kennedy spent six years at Wolves and helped them achieve promotion to the Premier League, scoring in the 2003 play-off final victory against Sheffield United.
After hanging up his boots in 2012, he joined the backroom team at Ipswich and then went on to become a youth coach at Manchester City.
He managed Wolves’ under-23s on an interim basis earlier this season following the departure of Rob Edwards.
Kennedy also assisted Sol Campbell at Macclesfield for a short period last term.
Macclesfield said on given him the job: “Mark is a passionate and incredibly well-respected figure, who we are delighted to be able to welcome to the club.”
