Over 200 Covid-19 cases confirmed in Cheshire East

Over 200 cases of coronavirus are reported in the Cheshire East local authority update.

In today’s update Public Health England confirmed there were now 209 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the area – which includes Macclesfield. As with all numbers regarding confirmed cases due to limited testing the actual number will be far higher.

The figure is up from the 196 confirmed in the area in Monday’s update.

In other areas of Cheshire there are 227 cases in Cheshire West and Cheshire, 162 in Warrington and 107 in Halton.

East Cheshire NHS Trust, which includes Macclesfield District General Hospital and Congleton War Memorial Hospital, has recorded 12 deaths.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – which includes Crewe’s Leighton Hospital have recorded 26 deaths.

There have now been 55,242 confirmed cases across the country and 6,159 deaths across the UK.
